Apple HomeView Smart Display Launches in UK for £299

What you need to know

  • Apple HomeView pre-orders opened in the UK on 13 October, ahead of a 13 November release.
  • The £299 tabletop model has a 7-inch display, FaceTime camera, Siri AI and Apple Home controls.
  • A wall-mounted version is also coming, but its UK price has not been confirmed.

Apple has announced HomeView, a £299 smart display for controlling connected-home devices, making FaceTime calls and using Siri AI. Pre-orders opened in the UK on Tuesday 13 October, with the tabletop model and a separate wall-mounted version due to arrive on Friday 13 November.

The standard Apple HomeView has a 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen, an A18 chip, a 12-megapixel Centre Stage camera and four beamforming microphones. Its tabletop base adds two full-range speakers, a down-firing woofer and passive radiators, with Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos support for music and video.

Apple says HomeView can control compatible Apple Home and Matter accessories, including lights, thermostats, locks, blinds and cameras. Its Home Camera view can show up to nine video feeds at once, while Sound Recognition can listen for smoke and carbon-monoxide alarm sounds and send alerts to Apple devices.

A shared screen with personal profiles

HomeView runs Siri AI, Apple’s new Apple Intelligence-powered Siri experience. The company says it supports more natural conversations, on-screen awareness and personal context when paired with a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.

The display can recognise up to six people, giving each their own Home Screen, apps and widgets. Apple says personal information such as Messages and Calendar appears only when a recognised user’s paired device is nearby, on the same Wi-Fi network and recently unlocked. Guests can still operate accessories, check weather, set timers and play music.

The wall-mounted model is designed for spaces such as hallways and entrances, but requires a separate mounting solution. Apple has not confirmed its UK price or UK mount pricing.

What UK buyers need

Setup requires a compatible iPhone or iPad running iOS 27.2 or later, or iPadOS 27.2 or later, plus Wi-Fi internet access. Some camera-recognition, video-history and video-description features require a supported iCloud+ subscription. Apple also says some Apple Intelligence features remain in beta and usage limits may apply.

HomeView expands Apple’s existing Home line of HomePod, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K with a camera, visual controls and multi-user personalisation. It also arrives ahead of the Apple Home Collection, a range of accessories including cameras, thermostats, a doorbell and a smart deadbolt, which is due to begin reaching the UK in December.

“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice-president of Worldwide Marketing.

Why it matters

HomeView gives Apple households a single screen for smart-home controls, video calls, music and shared household information, rather than relying on a HomePod and an iPhone or iPad separately. Its £299 price places it squarely in the smart-display market dominated by Amazon and Google, while its usefulness will depend heavily on a buyer’s existing Apple devices and compatible home accessories.
