Editorial methodology

GadgetScout labels new work as a hands-on review, repair-bench experience, researched buying guide, comparison, first look, news, rumour/unconfirmed report, or how-to/explainer.

From topic to publication

Our controlled workflow is: topic assessment, existing-content and cannibalisation check, source collection, evidence record, outline, draft, automated quality gates, recorded human approval, then publication.

Likely duplicate topics are referred to the existing page for review. The system does not create a competing URL automatically.

Sources and uncertainty

New articles record source URLs, publishers, access dates, source type, supported claims, UK relevance, exact model or SKU, confidence and unresolved conflicts. We prefer primary sources. Safety, legal, medical, electrical and regulatory claims require an appropriate official UK source and human review.

Older content

Some older pages predate these structured records. They remain available while being audited and may be flagged for fact-checking, improvement or consolidation review. A recommendation is not an automatic noindex, redirect, merge or removal.
