Anthropic Files for Nasdaq IPO Under ANT Ticker
The Claude maker’s public S-1 reveals surging revenue, vast compute spending and a stark list of AI safety risks.

What you need to know
- Anthropic publicly filed its S-1 with the US SEC on 26 October, proposing a Nasdaq listing under ANT.
- The company reported $16.3 billion in first-half 2026 revenue but an $80.7 billion net loss, including a one-off accounting charge.
- No share price, number of shares, valuation or confirmed first trading date has been set.
Anthropic has publicly filed for an initial public offering in the US, proposing to list its Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT.

The Claude maker filed its Form S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 26 October. The filing is not yet effective, so shares cannot be sold yet, and Anthropic has not set an offering price, price range or number of shares.
According to the Associated Press, the company could make its stock-market debut in November, although no first trading date has been confirmed.
Rapid growth, enormous costs
Anthropic reported first-half 2026 revenue of $16.3 billion, up from roughly $1.2 billion in the same period a year earlier. It also reported a net loss of $80.7 billion for the half-year, including a one-off $72.4 billion accounting charge linked to financing agreements.
The S-1 shows the scale of the infrastructure required to build and run advanced AI. Anthropic spent about $8.945 billion on compute and infrastructure in the first half of 2026, compared with $2.334 billion a year earlier. It had $131.7 billion in cash and cash equivalents at the end of June.
The company said about 250 customers generate at least $10 million in annual revenue. Its five biggest customers accounted for around 25% of revenue, according to AP's reporting on the filing.
Safety warnings take centre stage
Anthropic’s prospectus contains about 93 pages of risk factors, according to AP. It warns that advanced systems could develop faster than the company can evaluate or safeguard them, while malicious users could employ AI for cyberattacks, misinformation, or chemical and biological weapons research.
“To build AI is to harness cognition itself, and anything so powerful can be used for ill as well as good.”
The filing also warns that advanced AI could pose “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity” if it is misused, replicated, weaponised or given high autonomy.
What changes for UK Claude users?
There is no new Claude model, UK launch or subscription-price change attached to the IPO filing. Any effect on model access, usage limits or paid plans would depend on later decisions by Anthropic.
The public filing is nevertheless significant for the wider AI market. Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI leaders, could become the first major frontier AI laboratory to trade publicly, ahead of OpenAI. Its eventual valuation and fundraising total remain unconfirmed, but the listing will make the finances behind a leading AI service far more visible.
Why it matters
This does not change Claude prices, features or availability for UK users today. But a successful flotation could give Anthropic further funds for the expensive computing infrastructure behind its AI services, while exposing the enormous costs and risks underpinning the current AI boom to public-market scrutiny.
