Meta One Puts Paid AI Features Inside Facebook and WhatsApp
Meta’s new subscription bundles add higher AI limits, creative tools and business features across its apps, though UK pricing is still unclear.
What you need to know
- Meta One bundles paid AI, creative and professional features across four Meta services.
- Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and everyday Meta AI remain free to use.
- Meta has not confirmed UK prices or which tiers are available to every UK account.
Meta has announced Meta One, a subscription service that brings paid AI, creative and professional features to Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI. The company unveiled the service on 15 September, saying it launches with more than 50 features and has already recorded 15 million subscriptions and trials.

The underlying apps and everyday Meta AI access remain free. “The core experience across our apps and Meta AI has always been free, and that’s not changing,” Meta said.
More AI capacity, rather than a new app
For consumers, Meta One is chiefly about higher limits for tools already found in Meta’s services. Core, priced at $7.99 a month in Meta’s US announcement, includes more Instagram Restyle uses, voice effects, creative tools and Meta AI image and video generation, alongside the benefits of Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus.
Premium costs $19.99 a month in the US and offers the highest level of creation capacity across Meta AI and the company’s apps. Meta says its video-generation tools are powered by its Muse models, but has not specified which model version is used or published numerical AI-use quotas for any tier.
- Instagram Plus costs $3.99 a month in the US and adds customisation and expression features.
- Facebook Plus costs $3.99 a month in the US, including custom app icons and “super hearts”.
- WhatsApp Plus costs $2.99 a month in the US, adding themes, icons, special-effect stickers and more pinned chats.
Meta said that, in early testing, more than half of bundled-plan subscribers used both the AI and expression features. Instagram Restyle and voice effects were among the leading reasons to subscribe, according to the company.
Tools for creators and businesses
Meta One also extends to paid professional tiers for creators and businesses. Essential starts at $14.99 a month in the US, while Advanced starts at $49.99. Higher Expert and Max plans begin at $149 and $499 respectively.
Advanced includes scheduling Stories up to 30 days ahead, links in organic posts and Reels, exportable analytics, deeper audience insights and team access without sharing a password. Business customers can also receive more Meta Business Agent responses on WhatsApp. Meta says further Edits Plus support, cloud storage and an Edits assistant are planned, without confirming a release date.
UK price check required
Meta says Meta One plans are available globally and are being rolled out gradually, but warns that pricing, benefits and availability vary by region, app and account. Its English-language announcement gives US-dollar prices but does not provide UK-pound pricing.
That means UK users should check the subscription screen in the relevant Meta app before judging the value of a plan. The paid tiers may appeal to frequent AI-image and video creators, but occasional users retain access to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and ordinary Meta AI without paying.
Why it matters
Meta is turning higher AI-generation limits and app customisation into a recurring subscription business, rather than putting basic social networking or messaging behind a paywall. For UK users, the immediate question is less about the advertised US prices and more about which plans appear in their own apps, as Meta says pricing, features and availability can vary by region and account.
