Our Take
The Echo Pop is Amazon's compact smart speaker that slots neatly between the budget Echo Dot and the full-sized Echo. It's genuinely designed for people who want a smart speaker that doesn't demand much shelf space—think bedside tables, shelves in smaller flats, or tucked into a kitchen corner. If you're after Alexa's core features without a big footprint or price tag, this is worth a serious look.
It uses Amazon's own processor and packs a forward-firing speaker setup that sounds noticeably fuller than you'd expect from something this size. The 3-inch diagonal display gives you timers, weather, and music info at a glance, which is way more practical than the Dot's tiny screen. It's got dual-band Wi-Fi 5, standard Bluetooth, and all the usual Alexa smarts built in. Battery-wise, it's mains-powered only—there's no wireless option here, so you're permanently tethered to a socket.
Up against the Echo Dot, you're paying a bit more but getting that actual screen and better speaker quality. Versus Google's Nest Mini, the Echo Pop is noticeably more compact and the display tips things in Amazon's favour if you like seeing information. Just check your Wi-Fi setup before ordering—it needs a stable 2.4GHz or 5GHz connection. The box includes the speaker, power cable, and quick-start guide; no fancy accessories bundled in.
